If you grew up watching the Disney animation you will say that it was a classic style of a movie.  So why make a live action adaptation of it?  We don't know exactly why but lets see how this 2017 pans out for us movie goers.

The story begins with a old beggar that arrives at the castle while the prince was having a ball.  The beggar then offers a rose to the prince in exchange for shelter from the storm for which he refuses.  The beggar then turns into an enchantress, seeing through the prince's heart devoid of compassion, he was transformed into a beast and his loyal subjects in household items.  The whole castle was cloaked with something and its memories with the townsfolk was wiped clean as well.  No one then knew that a castle existed among their midst, sealing it, the prince and his subjects within.

Many years later we see Belle (played by Emma Watson), in the town of Villeneuve, dreaming of adventure.  She regularly wards off Gaston, a full of confidence ex soldier, who has a liking to her.  He is not Belle's type as he is arrogant and rude and kind of narcissistic.  We have the next scene Belle's father Maurice (played by Kevin Kine) off to attend a convention when he got lost in the forest and stumbles upon the hidden castle.  He was then imprisoned by the Beast (played by Dan Stevens),  his horse returned home, alarming Belle.  She then went after him to the castle to find him locked up in a dungeon. She managed to exchange herself for her father, so she was stuck in the castle while Maurice was allowed to go home.

Belle wasn't treated as a prisoner and was even invited to have dinner at the ballroom.  Being an adventure, she couldn't help herself by exploring the castle and she wanders into the west wing where she saw a rose.  The rose that tells until when the curse of the Beast will be lifted.  She was discovered by the Beast and she was frightened by his actions, proceeds to run away from the castle.  On her way out of the grounds, she met a pack of wolves but Beast was able to rescue her, albeit with some bites and bruises.  Belle helped nurse his wounds and somehow the two had been talking ever since.

All this talking led to a romantic dinner and somehow everything was going well when suddenly Belle discovers (through a magic mirror) that his Father was being held to be sent off to an asylum.  She asks Beast to let her leave to see him and he obliged, taking with him the magic mirror as a keepsake.  Seeing his father locked up, she confronts the townsfolk and confirms that the Beast exists by using the magic mirror.  Gaston realizes that Belle had feelings for the Beast and he got jealous.  He then entices the townsfolk to hold Belle together with her father and they should kill the Beast.

Left at the carriage, Belle manages to escape and returns to the castle.  She arrives just in time to see Gaston manhandling Beast who seem to have lost his spirit to fight.  When he saw Belle came back, he was invigorated and fights with Gaston and won.  The Beast spared Gaston's life and starts to reunite with Belle when Gaston shoots at the Beast fatally wounding him.  After shooting him, Gaston fell to his death.  The Beast then dies as the last petal from the rose falls and all the servants became inanimate.

Belle then tells of how he loved the Beast and the enchantress came back and undoes the curse given to the Beast.  Beast then recovers and turns back into a prince, his servants turned back into human beings and the castle was restored magically.  As the curse was lifted, all the hidden memories of the castle came back to the townsfolk and realized there was a castle after all.  Belle and the Prince then hosted another ball and they lived happily ever after.

The original movie was a classic and it was well written and we were fine already with it.  We were glad that the live action adaptation did some justice in making this film.  The music that made the first one a well loved movie are still here plus some new ones and added scenes.

They didn't copy the original film literally and we are glad that they put a different spin into it.  Especially the love angle.  In the original they had Belle teaching Beast a lot of things like manners and such, as if he was a child.  It was this experience that made Belle love him, but in this one, the Beast maybe rude and arrogant but he still have the qualities of a prince, a learned individual with love for knowledge and have a penchat for books.  Qualities that endears to Belle and this is the reason she started to like and eventually love the Beast.

The story telling was great here, it was not slow, nor it was too fast.  Dialogues were on point and crisp making for an entertaining watch.   Actors chosen were a match with their characters and we love to loathe at Gaston played by Luke Evans.  He really makes your blood boil and would wish Belle teaches him a lesson.  Kevin Kline as Maurice also held his performance well even with a limited screentime.

There were other actors that surprised us like Ewan McGregor was here as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, Ian McKellan as Cogsworth and Emma Thompson as Mrs Potts.  Wow what a cast.  Them alone is enough already to make us watch this movie many times over.

The original was a classic, and this one?  Only time will tell as it has all the makings of a classic.

Should you want to watch this, you can either buy its DVD or BlueRay or purchase it through Youtube for Php370 (standard) or Php550 for HD (Prices were as of this writing).

Featuring a star studded cast headed by Jet Li as the Emperor, Donnie Yen as Commander Tung, and Jason Scott Lee as Bori Chan, lead star Yifei Liu movie is headed for a blockbuster trip.

Disney spared no expense just to get this cast and we already expect something grand with the live action movie of that animated classic Mulan.

We at PMC have always doubted Disney in their movie adaptations as they change the story line somehow to make it cinematic.  They did it already with the animated feature and they did it again here in the live action adaptation.

No more Li Shang.  That enigmatic suave General Li Shang, the love interest of Mulan in the animated one is gone.  He was replaced with an upcoming character named Chen Honghui.  We think Disney is intentionally changing the characters to make this a new film altogether, something viewers may want to watch the New Mulan.

With the changes, we were doubtful.  Upon seeing this first official trailer, we dare say it has been a promising one.  Its very exciting, and lead star Yifei looked lovely as always on screen.  We love how they made her look like a man, we were skeptical about this since she's so lovely.  Kudos to the team for doing this to make her character true to the story and make it believable.

Slated for a 2020 release, we can't wait to watch the film till then.

In "Ralph Breaks the Internet", this film takes off from the first film.  Best buddies Ralph and Vanellope are in for another adventure.

The story is about the two travelling into the internet to get a replacement part (a steering wheel) for Vannelope's arcade game Sugar Rush.  Their adventure took them to the internet where their friendship is tested.

A great well thought of film, we were impressed with the details that went into it.  For internet savvy movie goers, we could really connect with the two when they traverse in the internet.  How they pass through the cables, through the router, through different gateways to finally reach the internet, we can now visualize how our data is being processed.

The two went to a search engine, and was taken for a ride to their search result.  When we do a search, result hits come instantly and when we click an item, we are brought to that site.  Similar to our leads, they ride a vehicle when they hit enter.  Its entertaining to visualize what we have been doing online yet we don't give much thought of how it does that.

Midway along the search for that "steering wheel", they are confronted with the concept of "money" which they didn't know of at the arcade.  They won the bid for that part and since they don't know "money", this part now is in danger of being lost.  They have to come up with the moolah fast and this is where the adventure and friendship test begins.

Their friendship is put on a pressure cooker with Ralph being his goofy and paranoid self.  His actions brings stress to the max for Vanellope that it almost wrecked their friendship along with the internet.

All the details are so well placed in the story that we got immersed into the film.  This movie is far more greater than its predecessor.  We are surprised that an animation film can give such a feeling of happiness, cookieness, anger, regret and contentment all within two hours.

There are so much going on in the film that from start to finish you will like this.  Some of you guys might not like the idea of this, but the attention to details are similar to that of Ready Player One.  If you you like the latter, then you surely be blown by this one ,Disneywise that is.

Spoiler Alert - Stan Lee is in this film.

After watching the very first trailer in 2018, we are already excited for 2019.  Our emotions go wild similar to our excitement to Black Panther.  A movie, the first of the series for these characters and they both come before the Avengers (Infinity War for Black Panther and Endgame for Captain Marvel).  Each movie somehow establishes a story that connects to the Avengers, helping us the moviegoes understand the latter.  This style of movie showing giving these films awesome box office figures.

Black Panther was Marvel's first film about a black skinned character and Captain Marvel is their first heroine film.  So similar to the former, the latter should be impressive.

Literally we have trouble sleeping right now and we pray already that March 6 is tomorrow already.

March 6 is for Captain Marvel

Being a Disney film, this is a family oriented film.  We like them all, who hasn't.  However we noticed they are merely rehashing old films.  The young ones then who loved these classics are now grown up with kids and they are capitalizing on old films and giving somehow a new spin to these.

Winnie the Pooh as of now exception.  Christopher Robin is shown in the film as having grown up and forgot what "fun" is.  Similar to the Peter Banning in "Hook", Peter Pan simply grew up and forgot who he was.  What makes this film different is that in Hook, Peter Pan was transported back to Neverland where most of the story took place.  In Christopher Robin, for some time, he was transported back to the Hundred Acres Woods briefly and we saw Winnie and the gang in the land of reality.

What struck us, which was similar to both films, is that work is destroying the relationship of the father with their children.  Christopher Robin grew up and had a family, and was swamped with work that he neglected that his daughter needs him.  He placed work above else to the detriment of his daughter and his wife.

There were a lot of scenes that he was given a chance to make up with his daughter yet he chose his work.  I am a father and I can feel with the character but sometimes a lot of times Robin has missed his duties.  This is too much I surmised that I can feel more of his daughter's feelings than his.  Oh well, this is what they want the viewers feel.  Kudos to that.  Then being a Disney film, it will have a predictable ending.

That Christopher Robin will remember his "happy thoughts" or what "fun" is.  Thanks to Winnie the pooh and the gang, he realizes his situations and reconnects with his family.  Happy ending.

Winnie the Pooh is great here as usual. With a mind of a kid, Christopher Robin continually explains to Pooh how it is to be a grown up.  Actually what he does is reminding Christopher how it is nice to be a "kid" sometimes.  He forgot how to be "kid" and what "fun" is, thus he had a run in with his daughter who is affected negatively.  All the other characters reminded me with the movie "Inside Out", where each one represents one emotion somehow.

I suggest that you don't watch this movie like I had and simply watch it as if it was its own movie.  This is a watchable film even with the comparisons with Hook and Inside Out.  Ewan Mcgregor is great here, not Oscar level, but similar in level with that of his Star Wars performance.

Moral Lesson - Must have a Pooh to remind you of your family.

After being previewed in the Avengers Infinity War, we now get an origin story of Captain Marvel coming out in 2019.  Since we are excited to see how Captain Marvel would correct the Thanos' snap, we are given the back story on Captain Marvel.  So when a trailer came out, we are all excited to see a snippet of who and what she is.

Now looking into the trailer, it didn't show much of her story.  We all know that she is human, and is a strong woman with powers.  Since this is a trailer, we need to watch the whole movie I guess. LOL.
