Finally we are now have the time to write about this blockbuster of a film.  A film that brought all the movie houses to showcase this even in the wee hours in the morning.  A film that allowed the same venues to allow rice meals into their theaters.  All the things they allowed for you to endure three hours of endgame, the only thing they can't hold off is your need to go the bathroom.

After watching, your friends tell you to hold off your reviews and comments or they will brand you as a spoiler.  Are they my friend? Really?

Its been a while now since Avengers Endgame has been shown and I think they won't mind if I do this right?  With this review I will put some questions and comments that I shall raise as this movie created more questions than answers for me.

DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE FILM.  LOTS OF SPOILERS HERE.

Okay.  Let me start off that I like the movie starting off with Tony and Nebula was stuck in their spaceship trying to reach Earth.    It shows its continuing from where Avengers Infinity War end off and they are starting with this one.  Then Tony created a final video just in case he won't survive the journey.

[they had jump capability - why did Nebula didn't use it?  If they were low in fuel or energy, Nebula would know where the nearest gas station would be]

Then they were rescued by Captain Marvel.  Thank God her movie was shown a month before or else they won't be saved.

[where was Captain Marvel when Thanos attacked Thor's ship on his way to Earth?]

Then they were returned to Earth and Pepper was happy to see her husband alive albeit not kicking.  Then the whole story turned into a sad note as all of them were depressed about losing to Thanos and lost half of the civilization.  Good thing Captain Marvel was now around, and with a bit of luck, they were able to pinpoint Thanos retirement home and subdue him.  They wanted to get hold of the Infinity gauntlet to hopefully snap back those who where "dusted", only to find out that their rescue plan was a bit late.  The stones were "dusted" by Thanos to prevent anyone doing the thing the Avengers would be doing.

[destroying the stones means the balance of the universe will be unbalanced of sorts as narrated later on by the Ancient One.  How was Thanos able to destroy the stones yet the Universe remains intact?]

They were late to the rescue and languished for 5 more years trying to find an alternative.  Some of them have already accepted their fate and even Tony Stark accepted this.  His family was still complete and his only remorse is, he lost the kid named Spiderman.  He was over him already when suddenly Antman came back from the Quantum Realm and finally the Avengers had a chance to bring back the dusted back to life.  A plan that brought back Tony Stark back in the fold and created a time GPS.  A device not conceived by Hank Pym, the guy who created the Antman Suit.

[Janet Van Dyne, who was stuck in the Quantum Realm for most decades, mentioned to Scott Lang not to get stuck to the time vortex there.  Why were no time vortex shown in the endgame?  If time works differently in the Quantum Realm, why did Janet age when he she was rescued?  She could have remained young like what happened to Scott when he was stuck there in Infinity War?  His 5 hour stay there was 5 years in real time.]

With the time GPS, they were able to travel back in time to get the infinity stones.

[It was fortunate for them that Hank Pym, who was dusted, was able to produce and left them Pym Particles enough for them to travel to and back for one time.  Although the suit was designed by Tony Stark, the whole thing was powered by the Pym Particles. We liked the idea of creating a twist for Captain America and Ironman to travel back further in time to get more of the Pym Particle and get the power stone.  Nice touch there.  Now the greatest question I had was, when the old Nebula operated the Quantum Machine, how was she able to bring the 2014 Thanos and his gang and his huge ship to 2019?  She only had 1 Pym Particle when the new Nebula was caught back in 2014.]

[another case in point - during the procurement of the stones, the power stone was lost in the battle of new york when Loki picked it up and vanished in a void.  Where did he go with it?  How did it affect the future time continuum? I guess we will be seeing Loki in the next Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3]

[Tony Stark was able to create his own infinity gauntlet so I guess he is at par with Eitri.  The same guy who created Thanos' gauntlet, and Mjolnir and Storm Breaker.  He is truly a genius.]

In the end, they were able to bring back all who were dusted and was able to join in the greatest cosmic battle ever to happen in the universe, on earth.

[I was wondering how there were able to fit all those armies, mostly space aliens, in that part of the United States.  Where were the US Airforce, Army, Marines, National Guard, or better yet, why were no civilians running? I would be alarmed even if I don't live there.  These are more comments or questions that don't need to be answered.  I just wondered.]

[If 2014 Nebula died, will the 2019 Nebula still exist?]

To close out the Marvel Universe Phase 3, they had to kill off the superhero that we loved the most and who started it all.  Guess who that guy is, we won't tell.

[in the requiem, all the superhero movies were seen grieving for the fallen hero.  First question - who was that handsome lad that was shown alone?  We later knew he was the kid in Ironman 3 who created the potato gun.   Will he be the Iron Lad in Phase 4?  All the heroes were grouped according to their films, then why did Cobie Mulders character Maria Hill all alone and Nick Fury was later found to be in the patio?  They are usually seen together but this time, they weren't.]

In conclusion, the three hours playtime was well worth the time spent to create a storyline to end the Phase 3 of the MCU.  If you like action and some twists, then watch Avengers Infinity War.  This movie isn't for you.  This one had all the thought process built into.  This creates a feeling of sadness for the loss of love ones and of how they struggled to bring them back.  A feeling of joy reverberates when they are finally back and joined the living fight off the 2014 Thanos.

We raised a lot of questions here, and more are coming as we keep on watching Avengers Endgame over and over again.  We feel that these question were not answered as they would not fit in the 3 hour playtime they already had.  Maybe, just maybe they will be answered in 1) in the Directors Cut DVD/ Blueray that will be coming out soon as extended versions 2)  a video clip of answers coming from the Russo brothers in that same DVD or Blueray or 3) will be in the next movies under MCU Phase 4.

If you have answers to my questions, be my guest and email them at submit.katooga@gmail.com.  I am a fan of the Marvel movies, but not of the comics so clearly I will miss a lot of parts in between.  My questions were raised as per the story telling perspective.  Thanks in advance for your answers.

More Questions Than Answers - Avengers Endgame (2019)

It's been three weeks since Avengers Infinity War opened in theatres and still it is being played until now.  This is how popular this movie is.  Why wouldn't it be?  Its been a decade since the thought of assembling a group of super heroes came into being and now the thought of them being killed in one movie is kinda interesting.  Here comes the superhero killer in Thanos.

For those who haven't watched the movie yet, better stop now.  Just a warning.

-----------------------------------------

Now who got killed in the movie?

Heimdall
He sent The Hulk to Earth to warn the Avengers that Thanos is coming. Then he was killed.  That was his last act of heroism.

Loki
Killed by Thanos' hands.  He died with Thor watching.

The Collector
Although we have not seen how, it is assumed he died as Thanos got the Reality Stone from him.  If we are wrong, then we might see him back again in the next Avenger film.

Gamora
Yes.  She was killed by Thanos.  She was the favorite daughter (adopted) by Thanos yet she was given up.  She was the sacrifice that Thanos made just to get the Soul stone in Vormir.

Vision
Obviously he will be killed and we expected this even before the movie even opened.  He has the Mind Stone on his forehead so we know Thanos will get his hand on it.  Half of the movie is shown the Avengers protecting him from Thanos and the war ensues unto Wakanda.

Those were the heroes that got killed by Thanos' hands or by his siblings.  Since he got his hands on all the stones, and with just a snap of his fingers, half of the population died.  And here are the list of those characters who got "disintegrated" or simply turned to dust.

Groot
Scarlet Witch
Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier)
T'Challa (Black Panther)
Sam Wilson (Falcon)
Mantis
Drax
Peter Quill (Star Lord)
Doctor Strange
Peter Parker (Spider Man)

Shown in ending credits who turned into dust.
Nick Fury
Maria Hill

Wow look at the long list characters that got killed by Thanos.  Now here are those who survived.

Thor
Bruce Banner (The Hulk)
Tony Stark (Iron Man)
James Rhodes (War Machine)
Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow)
Steve Rogers (Captain America)
Rocket Raccoon
Okoye and M'Baku (Wakanda Warriors)

We got a short list of those who survived and now we have not seen the following heroes in the film.  We assume they also "survived" the culling and we hope to see them in the next Avengers film.

Scott Lang (Ant Man)
Wasp
Clint Barton (Hawkeye)
Shuri (Black Panther's Sister)
Pepper Potts
Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel)
Valkyrie
Wong (The new Master of the New York Sanctum)
Ned (Spider Man Best friend)

This is just part one of our review and we had to get this out of our system.  We will have the story review next up.

Who Survived the Snap in Avengers Infinity War

After writing about who "survived" Thanos purple finger snap we now get into a "proper" film review.  Its almost a month now since the movie debuted in the theaters so we assumed most of you have watched the film.  For those who have yet to watch it, STOP reading this one already.  This review will have lots of spoilers for you.  If you don't care about the spoilers then read on.

Before this film even was shown in the movie houses, we were already bombarded with trailers, and film critics, comic geek, marvel fans with their predictions how the film would go and end.  So it was difficult to watch this film objectively.

We knew beforehand that Thanos will get all the infinity stones and half of the universe will die.  What happens before that is the question.  We also knew that vision will die because one of the stones is the one that keeps him alive.

This notion of Vision's death is what dragged the whole movie into and with the other supporting casts creating the side stories.  The love story between Vision and the Scarlet Witch was drummed up to create drama herein.  Where in previous films, we knew somehow that they "connected" somehow, in this film, they were full blown lovers.  Sneaking away from the Avengers just to enjoy themselves.

This connection gave the movie the emotional cliffhanger all through the story telling.   How would Scarlet Witch deal with the emotional stress?  Remember that in the Age of Ultron, how she was emotionally unstable to begin with.  Here she still has this dilemma but in the end, she was able to accept Vision's death, albeit then Thanos spurred everything.  Thanos really is a bad ass and rude if you ask me.

Now the side stories.  Aside from the fight in Wakanda, Wakanda Forever!!!!, there was a fight on planet Titan.  Each fight had their own drama but with similar objectives - to stop Thanos.  What was important with the fight on Titan is the fact that Doctor Strange has watched millions of outcomes and told Tony Stark there was only one outcome with them winning the tide against Thanos.  Knowing this, he pleaded with Thanos to spare Tony Stark's life for the Time stone.  I surmised that this was the ONLY way that they would win in the end.  So I was relieved when his final words to Tony would be "this is the only way".

Now we shall go into why I felt that after the death of superheroes was temporary.

1)  Because Doctor Strange said so.  He is so sure of himself and that giving up his life for Tony Stark, a man he knew briefly, should not be taken lightly.  By giving his own to fail is a necessary requirement for them to succeed, then he just assured us that they will win and will bring back all if not most of the dead superheroes.

2) Black Panther the movie was a blockbuster when it came out, so killing off the character will not give us a sequel and will be a big financial loss for Disney.

3)  We knew that Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 will be out so we know that it would be a quiet and unexciting movie without Star Lord and Gomora in it.

4)  In Thor Ragnarok, Odin mentioned "Asgard is not a place, it is the people".  That's why they put all the Asgardians to a huge spaceship bound for Earth.  Then in this movie, they all were killed in the first 3 minutes leaving Thor as the last one.  In the comics, the Asgardians finally reached Earth and established a colony.  So expect them or some of them to eventually reach planet Earth.

5)  Definitely Doctor Strange will come back.  Who would better confirm that his plan worked if he wouldn't be back?  So we guess he will in Avengers 4 and a possible Doctor Strange sequel.

Now a movie with a great magnitude of a cast will definitely be without some holes in how the story would be told.  The movie in itself is two and half hours long and after watching this, this gave us a lot of questions more than answers.

1)  Why was there more superheroes killed compared to those who survived?  I saw in a video that most of those who survived formed part of the original avengers.  Is this Disney's way of going full circle?  From those who started it, they are the ones to end it as well?  Lets see how they do this in Avengers 4.  A quirky survivor was Rocket Raccoon.  Why was he the last one who survived from the intergalactic characters?  We guess that the Avengers will bring the fight to Thanos and Rocket Raccoon can bring them there.  Now that's logical.

2)  Why did Star Lord acted the way he did in the last part?  I accept already the fact that Thanos would win in the movie but at the way Star Lord facilitated this was something I was dumbfounded.  Instead of following the plan, he went berzerk over the death of Gomora.  Yeah we get it, he loved her but instead of helping the others get the infinity gauntlet, he went nuts and fired at Thanos.  Did he went off plan or was it according to Doctor Strange's plan?

3)  How did Nick Fury that Captain Marvel survived the purge?  In the ending credit scene, we saw him using a device calling upon Captain Marvel.  Yes we know she's alive as we have seen a lot of articles about her having her own film.  Did she really survive or not, will we see her in Avengers 4?

4)  Who will not be re incarnated or survive Avengers 4?  We suspect Captain America will die.  Why?  His contract with Marvel is expiring soon and he has signified he will NOT be doing anymore Captain America.  Are we correct in our guess?

5)   When an invasion was happening in Wakanda, where were the United Nations?  Was there no time for them to act?  When the first attack happened in New York, the whole world has been alerted of Thanos' threat.  Why was there no reactions from them?  The Hulk was there along with Wong who was left behind.  Is the UN a helpless group that they were not included in the story?

There are more questions left in my mind and will write more about it after I do some vetting.  I hope these questions will be answered in the next Marvel movies - Antman and the Wasp (although they didn't delve into the infinity war theme in their first movie), Captain Marvel (will it feature some of the infinity war details?), Venom (really now) and X-Men Dark Phoenix (since Disney bought 20th Century Fox - will they intertwine the story line with Thanos? Will they make this the first film to crossover or merge to the MCU?).

See, more questions than answers.  Although I didn't liked this movie as I hoped to be but I still rate this film as something with a passing grade.  I consider this as a prequel to something grand in Avengers 4.  I hope that movie won't disappoint or else it will bring both movies to my purgatory list of movies that I hope I will forget.

If you have other questions about the movie or have comments - please email us at info.katooga@gmail.com.  We love to hear if you have anything more to add with what we have mentioned here.
