When it rains it pours they say and when weather turns bad, we don't go out of the house. This is what we have been doing all our lives then suddenly this movie comes along. It assumes that we have become Gods that we are able to control the weather.
With technology we are able to track, monitor and neutralize any weatherly threats possible. We have to thank Jake Lawson for this for making our world a safer place. We are now at peace with the weather however with his personality, he wasn't in good terms with the US Government. He was forced out of his creation and relegated to civilian life. His brother succeeded him and managed the weather satellites.
All this time of monitoring, the US government was on top of this technology until it was time to turn this over to the entire world when weather anomalies happen.
Freak of natures started happening and no one seems to know how it happened. When they investigate, all evidence gets broken, deleted, erased and accidents seem to happen. All these things raise suspicion but how can you prove it? There's a conspiracy somehow and this movie well played this to the hilt.
Gerard Butler is a great actor however he is a young Kevin Costner. His acting is very similar with all his other films. So when I watched him here, I can see his other characters like the Angel has fallen franchise, 300 and Gamer. This was the same dilemma Kevin Costner early on with his career. It was only recently that Kevin was able to break his own mold and assumed his recent characters very well. We hope the same will come for Gerard Butler. His genre is still action and we liked him in the "has fallen" series. It befits his build and acting personality.
Pushing the film to greater heights is the use of CGI which we think was instrumental in story telling. Although we can see the trickery, the satellites and the space station we somehow believe to be true as we focused more on the story. We had to let go of the CGI awareness and followed the story which was halved mid film. The story is now about Jake Lawson in space and Max Lawson on earth. Back story wise, they have had a brotherly rift early in the film, then all is cool when they finally team up to thwart the conspiracy.
If you want entertainment, and have time to kill, then watch this. As of this review, its being shown on Netflix.
