Breakfast anyone? - Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

By far is the oldest movie we have watched and reviewed to date.  We love Audrey Hepburn that we had to scrounge a bit to find a full movie version of that famous movie, Breakfast at Tiffany's.  After all that search, it was all along shown on Netflix.

Breakfast at Tiffany's showcases a girl named Holly Golightly's search for financial bliss in 1960s New York City.  She tried all kinds of things to earn her keep and achieve being rich.  She has lots of rich friends hoping to wed anyone just to level up in society until she met an intriguing neighbor in Paul Varjak played by George Peppard.

Holly doesn't have a stable job so shes scraping all the menial income she can get her hands on.  Meanwhile Paul is a struggling writer who is "kept" by a wealthy woman.  Two persons struggling in life meeting in one building was destiny we believe and somehow both were interested in each other.  They are cozy with each other yet romantic wise, they won't even try as both were still trying to achieve their financial freedom in a timely manner.

It was Paul who eventually confessed his love for Holly that even with the meager income and wealth he had, he promised to love Holly till the end.  She did was starting to love Paul however he could not give the wealth she desperately wanted. So she shied away from Paul's advances and went as far as driving him away.

Divulging not most of the details, all that pushing away by Holly could stop Paul from not loving her.  He did love her and he understands why Holly would not accept him.  But as if they were pre destined for each other, life has a funny way of biting Holly in the butt.  In the end of the film, they were finally together.  There I gave away a huge spoiler.  Even with that information, this movie is something to watch .  This may not be your typical romantic movie, but it has its own charm and yes, Aubrey Hepburn is in it.  You got to watch it.

Just one caveat though, we didn't like Mickey Rooney here.  So take him with a grain of salt, hell you might not even recognize him here in this movie.  Just watch the film for what its worth and we guarantee you its a nice watch for a film of that era.  It's not cheesy and not boxy like other classical films, we can say that even a 1960 film can be timeless in its directorial interpretation of this ageless story line.
