Something great waking up to "Morning Glory" (2010)

When we do see Rachel McAdams in a film, usually its a romantic comedy.  She shares top billing with her love interest and this formula has waned on us.  So when we saw Morning Glory on Netflix we somehow wanted to find out who she shares this with.

Oh God its Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton!!!!!  Add in Jeff Goldblum and Patrick Wilson and you got a hell of a cast.   This looks mighty interesting so we decided to watch this.

The story revolves around the day to day operations of running an early morning show.  She starts off working for a big morning show then she, McAdams was called to office.  She thought she would be promoted as she has slaved for that show for the longest time.  Unknown to her, she was called so she can be told that she's been fired.  The whole world fell upon her and we find her in the next scenes looking for a new job.

She then was hired by Jerry Barnes (played by Jeff Goldblum) for a losing morning show Daybreak with Colleen Peck (played by Diane Keaton) and Paul McVee (played by Ty Burrell) as anchors.  As new executive producer, she fired McVee on her first meeting and now have a problem of replacing the fired anchor.  In comes Mike Pomeroy (played by Harrison Ford) a famous award winning journalist.  It wasn't a perfect wedding for both Pomeroy and Becky (Rachel McAdams) on set as the former is still holding on his lost glory.

Adding to Becky's problems is JerryBarnes.  She's told that her show is in the brink of cancellation.  Since handling the show and getting Pomeroy, ratings dropped much to Jerry's frustrations.  He gave Becky 6 months to increase its ratings or else face cancellation.

The movie then shifted to overdrive as we see Daybreak doing some incredible things much to the delight of its viewers.  This did not impress Pomeroy and still continues to be a sourpuss.  All changed for the better still when Pomeroy decided to break a story in the morning news, shooting the ratings up for the nearly defunct morning show.  This sudden spike in ratings got a rival network's attention and decides pirate Becky.  She thought she had made a connection with Pomeroy and she initially turned down the offer.  Instead of working with Becky, Pomeroy frustrates her enough to reconsider the other network's offer.  While Becky was in an interview, Colleen reminded Pomeroy that it was due to his hardheadedness that Becky decided to entertain the interview and was absent on set.  He then realized his blunder and in order to win back Becky, Pomeroy did something he did not do or would do, cook in a morning show.

When we saw the stellar cast in the movie, we saw a great film already.  We never knew how emotionally laden this film was.  All the scenes, some were all talk and may find boring or can be taken out of the film altogether, we never knew that it was a set up for the ending.  We were surprised near end and suddenly tears flowed down our cheeks.  This writer is not easily swayed by emotions but somehow this did struck me with tears.

Jeff Goldblum, Patrick Wilson and Diane Keaton were supporting to the two, McAdams and Ford.  Jeff Goldblum as the one who certifies to her success, Patrick Wilson as the love interest who did nothing to win her (they just kissed and well... you know what they did after that kiss) and Diane Keaton we thought were a bitch at first then turned out to be an angel.

Currently showing on Netflix just in case you want to watch this one.
