As we try to choose movies on Netflix, we somehow took notice of Pegasus. We like fast cars and we would like to see how this film really is about cars.
It turned out that the movie is about a disgraced rally driver. A champion for how many years only to be suspended for five years due to him participating in an illegal street race. His ego drove him to be the best and this made him race even if it means him losing his racing license. Fast forward to five years and now he is for reinstatement of his license and this movie shows his struggle just to get a seat inside that rally car.
His hardships are akin to Jackie Chan in Thunderbolt, another racing movie, and his misfortune prior to the race, and an unlikely savior to make him do race again. As per other reports on this, they have a stellar cast of actors here to make the film fly. However watching this, we seem not to be impressed by their performance (?) or simply the movie did not characterize their roles properly.
The lead Zhang Chi (played by Sheng Teng) peformed well, but not great. We only liked him while talking to his "son". He was as if trying to be a comedian in an dramatic film. I can't blame him for this if the movie made him as such. We think he can do more but he was just constricted to his role. The villain isn't as bad as we want him to be. He was in fact so kind and gentle. The villain we feel was the Zhang Chi's shadows of his past. He wants to make good in front of his "son" and show to the world that he still got that champion spirit inside him.
From start to almost finish, the movie is good in its story telling. However the ending we can't make heads of tails of it. The film is entertaining enough to watch till the end, so please email us at pinoymovieclub@gmail.com for your opinion about it.
