After growing up watching The Equalizer on TV one will try to equate this movie with the former. This is NOT SO MUCH LIKE THE TV SERIES although one premise or two is still present. An individual with a special set of skills goes off helping people, equalizing the odds while being a normal civilian. Sorry this is not Bryan Mills in Taken but Robert McCall played by Denzel Washington.
What made the TV series engaging was the fact that every week, we see the the lead tackling different ordinary people cases. This is the thing that kept viewers like us engaged and waiting for it every week.
In the case of the movie, the main story of Rober McCall of saving a prostitute named Teri (played by Chloe Grace Moretz) is so thin, they had to add in a lot of other ordinary people's cases to make the film longer. There were not much twists in the main plot that they have to intertwine them with the rest of the cast.
With that thrown aside, the action and violence is something not for the weak of hearts. Its so gory, I almost classified it as a horror flick. Not that its bad, it good. The blood bath is forthcoming when he starts his timer on his watch. Nice.
If you don't have anything to do, the film is watchable and entertaining. Don't look for something else in the movie. We liked Denzel Washington here, actually it is because of him the movie floats. He is such an adorable angel that we somehow got surprised that he had those special set of killing skills. The movie somehow established properly his character of a good guy becoming a vigilante. Giving him the right excuses to do those inexplicable things to the bad guys.
Again, this is a watchable film if you are into gory bloody action. Another good film to line up for a movie marathon.
